A Dancing, Joyous Harmony: The Thelemic Journey of Timothy Leary
Frater Palamedes Ardentis
Sometimes, when looking at the lives of our own Uncle Aleister and that of Dr. Leary, the parallels are astonishing. Both were considered wicked and dangerous by the powers that be, both founded influential spiritual systems and philosophies, both pushed the boundaries of everything and thought their students to question authority, both supported the development of a new paganism, and moreso. Most important, however, both lived by one important truth and as openly as possible: The Law of Thelema. In this talk, we’ll explore the life of Dr. Timothy Leary, his teachings and explorations, and his unabashedly Thelemic way of doing it all.
The Cypher & the Syzygy: 0=2 A Universe Rejoicing
Tired of stuffy presentations with too many long-winded definitions and etymological digressions? Then this presentation is for you! A poetic performance piece. An attempt to de-scribe the Thelemic mathematical maxim of 0 = 2, the theme for this year’s Scarlet Symposium, ‘A Universe Rejoicing’, and the unfolding of light in the universe as it descends into matter, utilizing the symbolic re-presentations of the Dao, the Tree of Life, the Gnostic concept of Syzygy, and the union of opposites as expressed in the alchemical maxim of Solve et Coagula. As Art of Noise said, In no sense? Nonsense!

A Brief Meditation Upon Joy
Fr. Aristaeus Phosphoros
Meditation and related practices make up an important part of the exercises of Liber E vel Exercitiorum. With its challenging descriptions of focusing on images of complex moving objects, some seekers may be daunted by the prospect of beginning a practice of meditation. Yet at its heart, meditation is an exceedingly simple practice which almost anyone can dive into. In Book 4, Crowley described the object of meditation as achieving stillness of mind. The practice also has some highly beneficial and possibly unexpected side effects. Famed filmmaker David Lynch has credited his experiences with meditation as giving him access to deeper levels of creativity and boundless joy. In this interactive presentation, Fr. Aristaeus Phosphoros will provide a brief introduction to some simple meditative techniques which can be used by anyone, regardless of their level of experience, and then will lead attendees through a brief session of meditation.
