Join Scarlet Woman Lodge this year as we celebrate the Thelemic Holy Season with a Feast for the Equinox of the Gods and a Feast for the Three Days of the Writing of the Book of the Law! Although donations to support the work of the Lodge are always welcome, all these celebrations are free and open to the public.
The Equinox, March 20th
“A Feast for the Supreme Ritual…” (Book of the Law, 2.40)
Everyone is welcome to the celebration of the Feast of The Supreme Ritual at Scarlet Woman Lodge on Monday, March 20, 2017 at 10:00 pm. Please arrive half an hour early.
According to Aleister Crowley’s old commentary to Liber AL, The Supreme Ritual is The Invocation of Horus (see Book IV, 2nd revised edition pg. 415-419).
At Scarlet Woman Lodge we regularly recognize this specific Feast in our frequent celebrations of the O.T.O.’s central ritual, The Gnostic Mass. Additionally, the Supreme Ritual initiated “the opening of the New Aeon,” and its date marks the beginning of the Thelemic year (Anno V: III).
The First Day of the Writing of the Book of the Law, April 8th
You are cordially invited to join us as we celebrate the First Day of the writing of The Book of the Law on Saturday, April 8th. We will meet at Mt. Bonnell for a reading of the first chapter out under the stars, We will meet at the top of the hill at 7:30pm and begin the reading when we spot the first star.
The Second Day of the Writing of the Book of the Law, April 9th
You are cordially invited to join us at 3:00pm, after Mass, on Sunday, April 9th, at Scarlet Woman Lodge to celebrate the Second Day of the writing of the Book of the Law. A Brother will provide a public performance of Liber Yod (First Method). In Liber Yod, the Magician banishes the elements, the planets, the signs of the Zodiac, and finally each Sephiroth in turn, which can be particularly appropriate to the nature of Hadit and the Second Chapter & Day. This was originally performed by the Brother for the same Feast Day at Tahuti Lodge in New York City in 1993.
The Third Day of the Writing of the Book of the Law, April 10th
You are cordially invited to join us at 7:00pm on Monday, April 10th, just prior to our April Officer’s Meeting, at Scarlet Woman Lodge to celebrate the Third Day of the writing of the Book of the Law for a group reading of the third chapter of that book.
The Holy Season
Thelemites celebrate a number of holidays, based on Crowley’s commentary on the Book of the Law, Chapter 2, Verses 34 – 43, which is also recited by the Deacon in the Gnostic Mass:
But ye, O my people rise up & awake.
Let the rituals be rightly performed with joy & beauty!
There are rituals of the elements and feasts of the times.
A feast for the first night of the Prophet and his Bride!
A feast for the three days of the writing of the Book of the Law.
A feast for Tahuti and the child of the Prophet— secret, O Prophet!
A feast for the Supreme Ritual, and a feast for the Equinox of the Gods.
A feast for fire and a feast for water; a feast for life and a greater feast for death!
A feast every day in your hearts in the joy of my rapture!
A feast every night unto Nu, and the pleasure of uttermost delight!
The “Holy Season” is marked by some as the season between the Feast for the Supreme Ritual, on March 20th through April 10th, which is the 3rd day of the writing of the book of the Law. The United States Grand Lodge maintains a helpful discussion of the Thelemic Calendar, including the Thelemic Holy Days.
Also, Zero Equals Two, the official blog of the United States Grand Lodge has these articles on the three days of the writing of the Book of the Law and on the Holy Season.
