Hymn Unto the Threefold Gods of the Book of the Law
O hear ye now, ye Thrones of Flame,
Ye Lords who stir the dust of time,
Ye who speak from star to star,
In silence veiled, in fire sublime.
We sing of that most dreadsome hour,
When god touched man through mortal veil —
Not in dream, nor trance, nor prayer,
But waking, clear, and cold, and pale.
In Cairo’s heat the portal stirred,
And through a woman’s startled cry
The breath of Horus split the air,
And shook the temples of the sky.
“They wait for thee,” the whisper came,
A call from lips no god had taught.
Yet from her mouth the truth poured forth —
A truth for which the world was wrought.
To Boulaq’s hall the mage was led,
Where stele crowned with painted eyes
Did blaze with ancient deity —
A throne of stars in dusk disguise.
There Ra-Hoor-Khuit stood enthroned,
Above the priest whose hands implore.
And lo, the number at its base —
Six hundred, sixty, six, and more.
Then came the days, threefold and fixed,
The hour of sun at zenith bright,
When Aiwass, voice of veiled command,
Spoke through the void with burning might.
A Book was writ, not thought nor dreamed,
But cast upon the page like fate —
Each line a sword, each word a wheel
That turns the Aeons at its gate.
O Nuit, Queen of the Endless Sky,
Thy body bends in azure flame —
We call thee forth, thou arc of stars,
Come, wrap the world in thy true Name.
Hadit, flame hidden at the core,
Thou point, thou spark, thou unseen sun —
Come burn within the hearts of men,
And teach them that their Will be one.
Ra-Hoor-Khuit, great Lord of War,
Thou hawk, thou child, thou king of light —
Unsheathe thy sword, lay waste the old,
And guide the strong hand of the night.
Awaken now, O triple Crown,
Ye Lords who speak with voice of flame —
Hold sway upon the minds of men,
Till every soul recall thy Name.
Let no law stand but Do What Thou Wilt,
Let no love bloom but Love Under Will.
Let the Book once sealed be opened wide,
And the cry of Thelema the world fulfill.
