On Thursday, May 14th, our Hermetic Practice Workshop at Scarlet Woman Lodge, led by longstanding Scarlet Woman Lodge member Frater Al-Khidr, focused on different experiential ways of working with the Holy Books of Thelema. The Holy Books of Thelema are a series of inspired texts penned by Aleister Crowley (but which he claimed were written through him and not by him), and for many Thelemites they are an important focus of spiritual study and practice. Scarlet Woman Lodge hosts monthly discussions of the Holy Books, which continue online.
Our recent Hermetic Practice Workshop, though, instead focused on practices such as reciting and chanting passages or chapters of the holy books, inspired in part by the work Gregory Peters (and his book The Magical Union of East and West), and contemplative approaches to self-reflection using the holy books. Of particular interest are the latter, which are described in the Appendix to the recently published Thelema: Sealed into the Blood, a study edition of five of the Holy Books recently published by Oregon brother Rev. Clay Fouts, Pr. Gn.
Holy Books is every fourth Wednesday of the month and HPW is weekly.
