From the Lodge Master – The Summer Solstice

Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law.

Greetings of the Summer Solstice!

After our long stay at home this Spring, it is both wonderful and challenging to welcome the summer! Summer is our longest astronomical season, checking in at 93 days, which is about 4 days longer than winter in the Northern Hemisphere. The strength of the solar activity is apparent in the Summer and I find my thoughts returning to our celebration of the Gnostic Mass and our Lord and Father, the Sun, who is both supreme and terrible:

“Lord visible and sensible of whom this earth is but a frozen spark turning about thee with annual and diurnal motion, source of light, source of life, let thy perpetual radiance hearten us to continual labour and enjoyment; so that as we are constant partakers of thy bounty we may in our particular orbit give out light and life, sustenance and joy to them that revolve about us without diminution of substance or effulgence for ever.”

—Liber XV: The Gnostic Mass

Whatever your plans are this summer, may the sun’s perpetual radiance hearten us to continual labor and enjoyment. Whatever way you chose to celebrate your Great Work, your summer, or just being alive, I wish you all a beautiful and bright Summer!

Love is the law, love under will.
