It is the vulgar New Year, a time where Mercury will station retrograde in very close proximity to Venus at Capricorn. Mercury direct in Capricorn seeks organization and getting things done. Mercury retrograde in Capricorn may find any forward movement stalled, or impeded by unforeseen obstacles. I love the lesson in this astrological placement. It is the perfect time to go with the flow. Speaking of the flow, this is the perfect time to mention mindfulness, however loosely here.
I have been a ceremonial magician for over 30 years and the most profound benefit I have found has been that of movement meditation. When I became a member of the OTO, I was more specifically a ceremonial magician, proudly so. Though, my focus has moved so much more towards the meditation and mystical side of our work these past several years. While I do believe that repetitive banishings can help build our astral body and aura for all kinds of magical work, more practically, it has been the meditative qualities of the movement that have brought me great inner peace.
Recently, I have been craving that return to my inner work. The work that is regeneratively me. Being the master of the lodge and wanting to share my work with others, it is difficult to share seated meditation with others, not being well trained in any particular meditative study. Therefore, I opted to review and practice our major Thelemic rituals as group work; both for their magical abilities to build stronger soldiers as well as their mystical abilities to build more peaceful soldiers as well. Our Thelemic magick series begins in just two weeks on January 14th from 2-4pm at SWL and is open to the public. I hope you will join me in exploring the use of ritual magick.
We do have more events planned, though we will be going with the flow: These events include Yi King making kits, an Abramelin oil making class, SWL 30th Anniversary Celebration, and EGC Events.
In other news, I hope you were able to join us for Mass on January 1st, as our Brother Aaron celebrates his first Gnostic Mass serving as Priest. We are so excited for his journey!
